Breathe More Easily by Installing an Air Purifier This Spring

A huge number of Americans suffer from allergies, and spring is the most common time of year to experience them. If you’re an allergy sufferer, spring is less of a celebration of the end of winter and more of a constant misery involving sneezing fits and runny eyes. Don’t worry, though! There is a way to improve your comfort levels in your home this spring. Read on to find out more about the different air purifiers that can help improve your indoor air quality.

Air Filters

Air filters are the simplest of the air purifier types, but don’t let that fool you. They are quite good at removing a wide range of airborne contaminants from the home. An air filter is a tight fiber mesh, which is stretched across a specific point in your home’s ducts. When air flows through the filter, it deposits contaminants in the fibers of the mesh. Then, you just need to clean the filter every three or four months to prevent the system from clogging.

Ionization Purifiers

Ionization purifiers generate a cloud of electromagnetically charged particles during operation. As contaminants come into contact with these particles, they are given their own magnetic charge. The charged contaminants are then drawn to metal plates in the purifier. The plates can be removed and cleaned to rid the house of the contaminants, just like the air filter above.

UV Germicidal Lights

UV lights don’t actually physically remove contaminants from your air. Instead, they put out high levels of ultraviolet light. This sterilizes or kills most infectious organisms that come into contact with it, like germs and mold spores. So, a UV air purifier helps keep you healthy by reducing your chances of infection.
